On Sunday my mom and I had tickets to go to the BIA Parade of Homes in Columbus. We really have a lot of fun going to these the past few years. I get so many ideas and you get a glimpse of what is current and trending in designs for home building.
So a few things I noticed from the tour:
Black honed granite was in nearly every home! I think it is beautiful, but apparently it is the only choice in countertops. ∗hmmm∗
In their defense, the honed granite was mostly on the main countertops of the kitchen and the island was a quartz, usually a Carrara marble look-a-like. The kitchens were dreamy by anyones standards.
I noticed the color tones were very neutral. Often black and white. Some homes had a bit of navy or a deep teal. Gold stills seems to be the metal of choice in ceiling lights, but I noticed a lot of bathroom hardware was polished stainless. Most homes had a very good blend of metals.
This particular home was the only one designed in a Mid Century style with ethnic fabrics, such as mudcloth or shibori and natural decor. I loved the living room curtains flanking the fireplace. I recognized it immediately as one of Genevieve Gorder fabrics. It was stunning.
This is one of the bedrooms from the same Mid Century style home. I appreciated this room quite a bit! I recognized many of the gold accessories from Nate Berkus‘ line at Target. Also the fabrics and bedding were from Ikea. With all of that said, it means that this is an affordable room! One would never guess!
So this is a just a bit of what we saw on Sunday. I cant wait to go again!! Did anyone else go? What did you love about the Parade of Homes this year?
